The Enchantress of Arabia

You lay naked in your glory,
Underneath the deep blue skies
And the ever summer sun
Flaunting your golden red skin...
The wind carries your fragrance
And sings the tales of romance...
Your mystic eyes could never be veiled,
So enchanting and alluring...
Men come from far away places
Trying to conquer you in their pride
Forgetting of your illusions
That makes believe they have won...
You remind me of time immortal,
Which like you, changes
For a moment, you are oh! so near,
The very next, you are gone...
Hmmm, like i was telling some of my friends, you got to experience this feeling at least once in a lifetime...the feeling of sand underneath your feet, feel the breeze on your face, listen to the song it sings...the sound of the wind through the gentle sand blowing off form the tip of the dunes...haaa, am in love...
I always used to feel this way whenever i read an author describing the deserts...recently i got a chance to live it. Was on my way to Riyadh on the fateful day when India played Pakistan in the semi-finals (yeah i missed it!! Don’t dare mention it in the comments...). And its a 450km drive with most part of the highway in midst of a desert...i was lost...in its beauty...watching the dunes, and knowing that on my way back, they wouldn’t be here anymore...imagine witnessing a landscape that is unique every moment..the winds blow the sand from the dunes and that is how they move...i am surely hooked with this enchantress of Arabia...and for that reason alone i can forgive them the miseries they have put me into...[ before your imaginations run wild, let me tell you, its only that there are no women (and alocohol!!!) around...(hey Chhori, am not cheating on you, its just that i appreciate beauty.. ;-) )]

I have to dare to say you missed india pakistan match????
but hey, you witnessed something that has immensly pleased you. Certainly your experience of witnessing the desert is more rewarding. I am sure you caught up with the match highlights. So you did not miss anything.
Did you watch the finas yday though? if the answer is no, then we are NO longer FRIENDS :)
Yes, you better not cheat on your Chhori. Just be the typical man who always finds his neighbour's wife pretty!
jokes apart, yet again a good piece of write up and may the enchantress of Arabia keep you always happy.
Cheers
Always Happy
Why did you not post a pic of what you cicked. That would have been good. is it on FB?
@Happy Gal (Always Happy)
Cricket is alien in this country...but the finals, i did follow...
hmm, my chhori wont mind me flirting.. :P shes cool...but i wouldnt cheat on her!! yeah true some men jus cant take their eyes of other women('s)... :P
well, to be honest, this enchantress is going to be with me for quite sometime...
Regards,
The Silhouette...
@Happy Gal (again)
the one on fb is my first encounter with the desert from a car though....on this occasion, i was...ehh, rather gone dumb by the sheer beauty and forgot the cam in my car...
:) next time though...
Tumne bulaya aur hum chale aaye :P
You missed india-pak match? :O :-| (like i didn't know earlier ;) :P )
anyways.. The words are beautiful and make me imagine what it would be like to be in there, in between nowhere, sand dunes and breeze.. Sigh. Seriously. One must be able to experience it atleast once. Ah.. Don't worry your chori knows better of you than to blame you for cheating :) :P. But the way you portray places mumbai and deserts.. I can see how natural beauty affects your senses... ;)
keep bringing on such beautiful pieces sir..
@Deepika
Maar hi daloge...

Hey Harsh,
The wind blowing, the dunes the story of the desert, and the journey in it, the desert teaches you many things and one of them is to live life :) I am glad you reminded me of "The Alchemist"... :) :) Nice I am still enchanted and waiting to experience :)
Cheers
@Tanvi

:) its worth an experience... :)

sarah
@Sarah
eeeks...am making these silly typos more often these days!!! thanks a ton... :D
the desert is surely a silent enchantress, and quite alluring too...you should definitely hear her song atleast once...
:)

Desert is like, lots of sand... which just doesn't hold, nor in hands, nor under feet. Its soft, silky, and warm. Its a really soothing feeling to walk over it for a little while and yes, the songs that it sings to us.
Nice one.
Cheers,
Blasphemous Aesthete
It doesn't matter if missed an Indo-Pak match...you can always watch it later (if your such a freak :D) at least to me it doesn't matter when I'm in the midst of such a beautiful place !
The way you've captured the beauty of sun and sand in a handful of words is impressive and I'm sure the view must have been breathtaking...everything has a beauty of its own but alas, you din capture it in the cam so forgetful are we haina :)
Isn't it just like the mirror an enticing illusion !!
Take Care
@Vaisakhi
true, i wanted to write a lot more about it, but somehow i felt it would be more of a drag...the enchantress ahs to be revealed only as much to entice, if not, the mystery around her is lost... :)
hmmm, she knows i wouldnt cheat.. :)
@Blasphemous Aesthete
looks like you have savoured her beauty before...she is just so amazing, isnt she? the enchantress for me...
:)
@Fatima
the mirror does not lie. but it is us who see only what we wish to see and ignore the realities...
:)
The nearest I went was to drive through the rugged nature in Rajasthan. I can envy you, for being so enchanted among the dunes. Whenever I read abt the desert, I feel mesmerized by the ever-changing artistry of the sand.
And the mirages! oh ... this is where life truly is!!
@Idle Mind
An honour!! thank you.
true, its one of lifes greatest beauties, these landscapes...given a chance, do visit it...worth each moment...the sand, the sky, the sun or the moon...they seem to compliment each others presence and beauty...everything seems to be so in sync with each other...and none the less,the ever present wind!!!
:)
The first thought of enchantress >A girl :P
Was so sorry for the misinterpretation :D
This poem was a beauty on top of the beauty :)
Hell with watching cricket i hate it anyway..Wish could have swapped places with you :P but then you craved for both..gladly one got fulfilled :)
@Alcina
sadly the enchantress you assumed are a rare species here, and if at all there happens to be one, they are veiled... :(
it was a rather difficult choice between cricket and her, but i guess i made a wise choice... :)
thanks... ;)
Uss parde ke piche woh haseen chehra dikh jaye wahi toh apko koshish karni hai :P
@Alcina
hum parde se door hi sahi..
ab umar nahi rahi haseeno se nazar lada ne ki...
;)
The Enchantress...You definitely are loving the alluring beauty of it :)
"Forgetting of your illusions
That makes believe they have won..." Loved this lines!
OHHH!!! and you missed the Indo-Pak match! HOW COULD YOU? Yes! I did dare to say it and am ready to face the consequences :P
@Poonam.doc

:P
@Manpreet Kaur
