memories seep through
nostalgia sinks in
loneliness engulfs
i think of you...

places we been to
sweet nothings whispered
every moment, seems
deja vu...

thoughts of solitude,
weaves into soliloquy
and i wonder, how
could sanity haunt...

the whiskey sets in
and flame is ash now
present blurrs out
till tomorrow, repeats.

The Mirage...

His eyes opened. The dim light of the lamp illuminated the tent. His mind slowly crept back to reality. It was the same dream again. Lying in embrace, feeling the warmth of her body, holding close in the cold December night. He got down from the bed. The cold sand under his feet sent a shiver through him. The sand, it felt good. The golden hue of the lamp made his tent feel alive.

He walked out of his tent, into the desert. The sand was white against the silver of the moonlight. The sky, blue. Deep blue, almost to a shade of black. The moon, pearl white, and the million stars that lighted up the sky, gazed upon him. As if ascertaining his insignificance in the two vast oceans across him. The ocean of stars above him, and the ocean of sand below at his feet.

In that divine silence of the night, he felt an urge to fall down. To embrace the softness of the sand, and to feel her in them. To feel the wind carrying the sand from the dunes just like it blew the tufts of hair from her face, into his own. It was at this moment that he heard a distant voice. Faint yet distinct. As if it was calling out to him. He gazed over the horizon, the sand stretched for miles till eyes could see. He felt he saw a speck of black moving somewhere. Like the black of the Hijab worn by the Bedouin women. He followed it. As he grew closer, the voice got clearer. It was singing. The song felt similar, though he couldn’t understand it, he knew it was calling out for him. He followed the voice into the groove of the date trees. Then he saw her. Her face radiant in the moonlight filtering through the date leaves. Their eyes met. The song had long stopped.

“Noura, is it you? What are you doing out here at this hour?”

“I heard you call out to me. You called for me in your dream.”

“What dream?”

“Of the cold December night, in that faraway land of yours.” He gazed at her in bewilderment.

“That wasn’t you. And how could you even possibly know?!!” His voice was frail. Uncertain.

“And yet, here you are” she said.

His mind raced. Back to the dream, back to that night, back to her, to his Emma. He never had been able to forget her completely. It was the very reason he had volunteered for this expedition into the Saharan desert.
“But you are not her…” he said again. His voice meek towards the end. The urge to believe was taking over. He wanted to give in. Submit himself. He was tired of running, just for once and for all, he wanted to lie down in that abyss.

“Not in flesh, but in soul, I am the one you seek.” And she walked toward him. Gently taking him in her embrace, holding him close.

The years had taken its toll on him. He slumbered into the sand. There was a strange comfort in her eyes. And he drifted into the faraway lands, where they were together.

He heard someone calling out for him. He saw Ali running towards him. Slowly the events of the previous night dawned upon him. His mind raced to Noura. He heard Ali again. His mind panicked. How could he possibly explain to Ali why he was lying there in the desert with his daughter. He turned around, but Noura was nowhere.
“We have been looking around for you all morning Pashaa. Noura said you weren’t in your tent when she brought your morning Chai.”

He remembered the saying of the old wise men of the Bedouin. “Fee jinn hena. Meen nafar shouf ada jinn. Nafar tabaan, nafar majnoon..”

“The desert, it’s full of mirages. It will only show you what your heart desires. Even the sanest of men lose their way.”

He wasn’t sure if he had lost his, or found one.

Stranger

It was a winter evening, the sun had set early. It felt almost like night. But no, it wasn’t night yet. For, the moon was nowhere in the horizon. And without the moon, the night was never complete.
She stared at the moonless sky. In the night’s emptiness, she could feel the hollow inside her own self. It had been sometime since she wrote anything. But the words in her mind, she wanted to pen them this time.

I have lost myself,
Help me find me…

The emptiness hit her again. She thought of the days when words were her muse, she could weave them like magic. Words would dance to her tune. Now, as if all that was dear to her was taken away. Yes, may be that was her emptiness. The void, created by absence. But absence of what?

The reflection, it stares back,
Questions, “who are you?”
“What have you turned into?”

Her train of thoughts moved ahead. She sought some reason, a reason for her pain. A reason for her loneliness, the void, the emptiness.

Everything is falling apart,
But I can’t find the pieces…

She longed for that peace again. She longed, for that shoulder, for those arms that would comfort her. Tell her that its ok, everything will be ok. She longed for that void to be filled again.

Whom to hold to?
Wrecked, I am left…

She saw it then. The moon, it was full. The darkness seem to recede, the emptiness was gone. And at that moment she knew. He was always around, he never really left. In the shadows, he was waiting. All she had to do was, call out to him.

Remember me...

I live in distant lands,
I may not write for ends,
There may pass days,
Without a trace…

Just, when you think of me,
I not saying always,
Smile for the memories,
And all that it could ever be…

It may be a while,
Before I return,
I think of you, and us,
Only, I may never come…

Those stars will be same,
In those nights, see me
Talk to me, call my name,
The silence, whispers to me…

Live on, live your dreams
Carry on and be at peace
When you feel alone
Just put up a smile
I live in you,
Remember me…

Blank Verses...

The pages are blank,
as they reflect my thoughts
the ink goes dry
whilst I ponder to write…

Failing to relate
to the emptiness inside,
staring at nothing
those feelings have died…

Reminiscing the words
ever that I said,
and rekindling the dreams,
the ones  we shared…

When pain lingered,
I thought of your love
and when loneliness engulfed,
I thought of your touch…

But the pages are still blank
and my hands remain still,
the breeze blows the pages,
as my mind wanders at will…

The Joker...

Demons of the night,
Preying on my dreams,
Got nothing to give you,
Just broken memories…

So tell me if you could stand,
The sounds of painful screams,
The sight of crimson eyes,
Cry echoing deep within…

So, are you wondering now,
How I smile and deceive,
I just ripped my heart,
Till it could no longer feel…

Yes I am the foolish joker,
And I prey on your demons,
For all my sleepless night,
I wish you sleep in peace…

Salvation...

I wish the pain would subside
or i could just let it out...
I wanna figure a way
To calm my soul
Or else i could
Just watch it wither away...

These wounds may heal,
But why don’t
the scars fade...
Staying and reminding
Of the moments
“I forgot”, i say...

I bury my pride
And let that tear ride
Take me home
Take me, where i belong...
Blood, oozes out,
Then why i couldn’t feel the blade?

A Song...

Posted in By Eon Heath 34 comments

Ok friends, about this post, well i tried my hand at writing a song this time...and the reason behind it is, there is this one song Someday By John Legend from August Rush which i just happen to love...and i listen to it n no of times in a day. So the last time when i was listening to it, i had these words forming in me...

The dreams we saw,
N promises made,
Were for us,
To live together...

Now am left alone,
I don’t know how it happened,
Just moments before,
You, were here...
The words were true,
Now am left alone...

But i still remember
The sweet scent of your touch
And i can never forget
The taste of your lips, on mine...

So i choose to walk alone...
Be alone and finish wats left undone...
To keep our worlds together,
Be together..
With you forever....

When you read these lines, i just want you all to keep that tune playing in your mind....thanks...

dedicated, as always,
to you love....
